DeepSeek R2 is expected to go official later this month. It is expected to be an advanced Mixture-of-Experts model. The model will be powered by the Huawei Ascend AI chip at launch. Analysts expect the pricing of DeepSeek R2 to be significantly lower than that of OpenAI's GPT-5, indicating it may subvert the pricing model of existing AI services.

📢 xAI co-founder quits!

Igor Babuschkin, co-founder of Elon Musk’s AI start-up, xAI, has announced he’s leaving the company to continue his mission to develop “AI that’s safe and beneficial to humanity.” Babuschkin, who built and led xAI’s engineering team, is starting his own company—Babuschkin Ventures—to support AI safety research and back start-ups that aim to “advance humanity.”

Google adds memories to Gemini chatbot (copying Anthropic)
