NVIDIA Research has developed an AI agent named Eureka that can autonomously train robots in complex tasks, including teaching a robotic hand to spin a pen proficiently. Eureka, which utilizes the GPT-4 large language model, has enabled robots to master almost 30 tasks, such as opening drawers, catching balls, and using scissors.
IBM's new chip, NorthPole, inspired by the human brain, is making waves in the tech world, boasting speeds over 20 times faster and 25 times more energy-efficient than current market leaders for AI tasks. This advancement is pivotal for applications in autonomous vehicles and robotics. NorthPole is engineered to replicate how neurons in the brain both compute and store data, reducing energy and time wastage.
Apple is working hard to catch up in the AI game after seeing other tech giants take the lead. Despite being a late entrant, Apple is investing around $1 billion annually, focusing on enhancing Siri's capabilities and the Messages app, allowing for better question handling and sentence auto-completion.
Amazon is testing Agility's bipedal robot, Digit, for potential use in its fulfillment centers. This move follows Agility's shift in focus from last-mile delivery to concentrating on warehouse and factory applications. Amazon previously recognized Agility as one of the inaugural recipients of its $1 billion Industrial Innovation Fund, indicating the company's interest in the robot's potential.
Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, is all in on AI, as indicated in the company's annual report. Nadella envisions AI as the most significant technological advancement in computing in over a decade. While Microsoft has faced challenges in areas like mobile and search, its cloud business remains robust.
Accel said in a report the share price values of big tech firms such as Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon and Nvidia rose by an average of 36% year over year.

The semiconductor company just released some teasers on the Snapdragon 8, Gen 3. Apparently, it's AI-heavy. Expect features like AI-driven camera tools with ultra-fast speeds (the chip boasts speeds that are 98% faster than previous models). Not only that, but it'll be able to run AI models like Stable Diffusion and Llama 2. Clearly, Qualcomm's stepping it up.
