The U.S. Dept. of Energy just announced partnerships with 24 organizations to power the Trump administration’s Genesis Mission effort to accelerate scientific research with AI — including OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and Nvidia. The initiative unites 17 national labs with 40K researchers, targeting breakthroughs in nuclear energy, quantum computing, and manufacturing.

TikTok's US operations will soon be housed in a new joint venture named TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC. The company has signed agreements with Oracle, Silver Lake, and Abu Dhabi-based MGX. The deal's closing date is on January 22. Oracle will serve as the 'trusted security partner' in charge of auditing and validating that TikTok complies with agreed-upon national security terms.
OpenAI has released GPT-5.2-Codex, its most advanced coding model designed for complex software engineering and cybersecurity tasks. The model includes significant improvements for long-term projects, large code refactors, Windows environments, and notably stronger cybersecurity capabilities that recently assisted in discovering three React vulnerabilities.
Google added video verification to its Gemini app, allowing users to see if content was created with Google AI tools. Users can upload videos up to 100 MB and 90 seconds long and ask if they were AI-generated. It scans for SynthID watermarks across audio and visual tracks, providing specific feedback like "SynthID detected within the audio between 10-20 secs

After uploading, open Tools and select “Canvas.”
