Microsoft is challenging Nvidia's dominant 80% market share in the AI processor market by teaming up with AMD on a project codenamed "Athena." 

As reported by Bloomberg, Microsoft has dedicated several hundred employees and invested around $2 billion in Athena's development. The collaboration involves Microsoft providing engineering support to AMD while AMD assists Microsoft in developing its in-house AI chips.

OpenAI is back with another massive project. They just released research and code for their new text-to-3D model, Shap-E.

Shap-E produces complex and diverse 3D assets quickly, converging faster and offering better sample quality than its predecessor, Point-E.

At the current state, it’s limited to single object prompts with simple attributes, resulting in pixelated and rougher outputs. However, with AI's sheer speed of development right now, text-to-3D printers might become a real thing very soon.

It's hard to find a company these days without the letters "AI" in their ad campaign.

Apple might be one of the only exceptions.

Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, barely mentioned it in their earnings call last Thursday. Meanwhile, companies like Microsoft, Google, and Meta can't stop talking about it.

Even without it, Apple's stock jumped 4% after the earnings call.

It may surprise some to hear that Apple's already using AI in their products, they just prefer to keep it low-key.

At Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting, Warren Buffett compared artificial intelligence to the creation of the atom bomb, voicing both concern and amazement over AI’s rapid advancement.

The billionaire said that his friend (some guy named Bill Gates) showed him ChatGPT and admitted the technology “Can do amazing things.“

Mojo is a new AI programming language developed by Modular. It is designed to be used by all AI developers, and aims to combine the usability of Python with the performance of C, which allows for unparalleled programmability of AI hardware and extensibility of AI models​.

Mojo is designed with the capability to write everything in one language and program a multitude of low-level AI hardware without needing C++ or CUDA.

Replit recently, announced that they are releasing their advanced code, LLM (replit-code-v1-3b), to the open-source community. Trained on 525B tokens of code, replit-code-v1-3b is a 2.7B parameter model that knows 20 languages, has very low latency, and performs +40% better than comparable models.

Amid the talk of artificial intelligence replacing workers, experts say there are some jobs computers aren’t taking – at least for a while.

Amazon has acquired the audio content discovery engine Snackable AI to enhance its podcast features. Founded in 2018, Snackable AI used AI to add structure and metadata to video and audio content with AI-generated chapters, highlights, and more.

Meta Platforms has acquired an AI team of engineers previously developing AI networking technology at Graphcore. They will bring deep expertise in designing and developing supercomputing systems to support AI and machine learning at scale. Meta is seeking to improve how its data centers handle AI work and is now rushing to release generative AI products capable of creating human-like writing, art, and other content.

LinkedIn is testing a new AI feature that will generate cover letter-like messages for job seekers to send to hiring managers. The feature will draw on information from the user's LinkedIn profile, the job description, the hiring manager's profile, and the company of interest to create a highly personalized message.
